Digital Citizenship: We are discussing Digital Citizenship and online safety in our classes this quarter. Our school is using a curriculum from Common Sense Media. Our first lesson will review the difference between online and in-person friendships and the importance of keeping personal information private. We hope these lessons will lead to fruitful discussions at home as well. Have a great weekend!
Ms. Gallery is back from her maternity leave to resume her position as a fifth-grade teacher and as Room 211's Language Arts teacher. Here is a note from her:
I am excited to be back at Coonley and to get a chance to work with the fifth-graders and their families. I have enjoyed meeting them and look forward to a great second half of the year. It is wonderful to see some familiar faces in the group and Ms. Grant has had such wonderful things to share about them all. I came to Coonley in the 2008 as the first-grade teacher in the new Options program and then spent most of my teaching career in third grade. Last year, I moved to the fifth-grade team and have so enjoyed working with my colleagues and the students at this level. Ms. Grant and I have been working closely over the last few weeks to make this transition as smooth as possible for the fifth-graders. We are also lucky that she will be close by to help us navigate my return from leave. Please feel free to reach out to me with any questions or concerns now or as the year progresses. I look forward to working with you.
Happy New Year and Welcome Back!
I hope that you all had a wonderful time with your family and friends. A few reminders for the week: Reading - We are beginning our novel of Chasing Vermeer.
