It's hard to believe the first month of school has come and gone! We have settled into a great routine. Here are a few things coming up and a note from Ms. Grant about Social Studies.
And a note from Ms. Grant about Social Studies: We've been working diligently learning about and understanding How Social Scientist’s Interpret the Past and will be moving on later next week to the Early Hominids and the Capabilities that Helped Them Survive. Concurrently, we discuss current events that are often sparked by CNN 10 (www.cnn10.com), a wonderful online tool that has encouraged age appropriate conversations about both national and international news. I am also reading aloud a wonderful book to students called Refugee by Alan Gratz. It focuses on three children fleeing their homelands; Joseph in 1939 Germany, Isabel in 1994 Cuba and Mahmoud in 2015 Syria. It successfully brings light to the plight of immigrants who search for safety and freedom. I hope you will ask your children about the book with the hope that it will spark interesting conversation at home as well. Upcoming Social Studies Test: Rooms 214 and 211 Chapter 1 – Monday October 2 nd Rooms 217 and 212 Chapter 1- Tuesday October 3rd
